Iyla Grace Travels Renaissance Festival (Fairburn, Ga)

Part circus, craft show, music festival, theme park, and the best selection of unique food you’ll ever find in one place – and I tackled it with my gal pal Elise and her bro Tristian! On the last day we ventured into a fantasy land of Cosplay that spans 32-acre recreated into a 16th-century English village!

Founded in 1986, the Georgia Renaissance Festival began on 65 acres just to the east of I-85 in Fairburn, drawing a crowd of about 32,000. Fast forward to 2022, and the Festival now lives on 120 acres one mile to the west of its original location and attracts over 120,000 visitors over eight weekends every spring. What is a Renaissance Festival?

Comedians, jugglers, circus-style acts and musicians perform non-stop all day on 10 stages and in the lanes. Don’t miss the Royal Joust, held three times daily in the arena where brave knights challenge one another atop mighty steeds in a series of challenges that will determine who is the “King’s Champion!” Food at the Georgia RenFest is always a unique experience. A wide variety of gourmet delights greet you as you travel from one food vendor to the next. Whether you choose a chicken sandwich, a steak on a stake, a succulent meat pie, Greek gyro, Scotch egg, or a pork chop on a stick, you won’t leave hungry! The most popular entrée is the giant roast turkey legge! Weighing in at a pound and a half, enjoying one of these monster legges is an event! And if you love hot dogs (and who doesn’t?) the King’s Weinie reigns supreme! It is a half-pound premium hot dog crowned with chili and cheese on a bun.

So much to explore it’s worth slicing 2 days to fully engage with all the experiences!

Iyla Grace Travels To Children's Museum of Atlanta

Did You Know?

The Children’s Museum created Connected Learning Connected Communities (CLCC) in 2007 to work with the influential entities in a child’s life - parents, schools, and neighborhoods - to support children’s' literacy and nutrition.

This comprehensive outreach program for children ages 0-8 includes literacy, nutrition, and science workshops for students, family workshops on developmentally appropriate literacy practices and strategies, and childhood nutrition education classes for educators.

Children "graduate" from the family series to participate in classroom-centered workshops that currently take place in 17 partner schools, child development centers, and homeless shelters across seven of Atlanta's most under-resourced neighborhoods. From CMA's program, early childhood education teachers also gain new insights on teaching through play by observing the CMA educators who visit their classrooms and are invited to participate in professional learning workshops.

The CLCC program is further enhanced by Spread the Word Workshops which increase language and literacy skills among very young children. This program works with children, parents, and adult caregivers to create a culture of literacy and language (building on existing strengths and already present language skills), encourage communication between parents and their children to increase the number of words spoken in the household, and increase fluency in children through expanded vocabulary.

Iyla Grace Travels To High Museum (Atlanta Ga.)

Hanging with Michelle Obama at High Museum on a School Night was EVERYTHING. All because of my gal pal Ava’s 9th Birthday all school night rules were out the window. WE HAD A COMPLETE BLAST!! It all started soon as I stepped off the bus. Mom dropped me to Ava’s house.

Her mom (heyyyyy Mrs Oyin) had so much planned for us. Everything was so much fun. Once we left for Downtown Atlanta we were all whispering about what to expect at High Museum. The portraits were HUGE!! Mrs Oyin explained everything to us and was very patient. Caitlin, Ava & myself all learned so much.

It was Taco Tuesday once we left the museum and mom came to pick me up and just like that it was back to being a school night. On my ride home I told mom all about being in the same room with Michelle Obama and my gal pal, Ava on her birthday. Love you Ava and thanks for sharing your special day with me!!

About the Place: Dunkin Doughnuts was founded by William Rosenberg in Quincy, Massachusetts, in 1950.

Since Coved keeps us “cooped up” Mom tries to find fun things for us to do every Saturday. So many things are closed that can be rough on moms and dads. Never a dull moment when mom surprises me with a new Place. I woke up with butterflies not knowing where the car would end up. I spot the hot pink colors from a far and whudda ya know.. Its Dunkin Doughnuts.

Walked inside and every table was spaced out so me and mom could enjoy our sweet goodness. Mom treated herself to a icey coffee and of course my usual “ Pink with Sprinkles “ doughnut. Of course my tablet was on hand so mom could go over her grocery list as we both jammed to the music that seeped through the speakers over our table.
